About year ago I had a discussion with friends: which superpower would you like to possess (the discussion was inspired by TV series “Misfits”)?
I surely choose ability of reading in minds. My friend then trolled my by choosing superpower of controlling other superpowers 😉
Mind reading is not only a matter of sci-fiction movies now. For example results of Gallant Lab at UC Berkeley are promising. They’ve showed movies to people and measured their brainwave activity. Then cutting-edge computer software has found connections between waves and movies. Results are presented on the right.

Weak ago I started my adventure with reading in mind, because my university had bought EPOC Emotiv – affordable (300 $) device capable of reading basic thoughts (for example: directions, pushing objects, etc), mood and excitement. Just before opening a box with EPOC I wanted to be like Magneto from X-men. And my wish came true – I realized that I have something like his helmet on my head making my mind inaccessible – due to my long hair device was unable to recognize my thoughts. That’s why I visited today a hairdresser 😀
My friend was more successful – he moved virtual box using power of his mind. 🙂
