Marek & Wacek – Prząśniczka played on piano

Marek and Wacek was a piano duo of Polish musicians Marek Tomaszewski and Wacław Kisielewski (Wacek), performed during 1963-1986. The duo ceased to exist with the death of Wacek. Their style was unique and widely recognizable. It’s also worth mentioning that Wacek was a son of one of the most influential Polish writers, publicists and politicians of XX century – Stefan Kisielewski.

I especially like their performance of “Prząśniczka” – a song written by Stanisław Moniuszko. The song is about a girl, working in Łódź (a city in central Poland with well-developed textile industry) as a tailor. Her boy is heading for a long journey and she promises to him that she will be faithful. Unfortunately, she is not. 😀
