In order to fix:

• Open /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf

2. After rebooting type in console:

dmesg | grep bsd

You shoud receive similar output:

[ 2.108529] sda4: <bsd: sda8 sda9>

It means that you have Freebsd installed on sda4 partition, and sda8 and sda9 are so-called “slices”

3. Use command similar to:

mount -t ufs -r -o ufstype=ufs2 /dev/sda8 /media/free

For older versions of Freebsd:

mount -t ufs -r -o ufstype=44bsd /dev/sda8 /media/free

or

mount -t ufs -r -o ufstype=ufs /dev/sda8 /media/free

might be more suitable.

grep ^rc print all lines starting with “rc” (in this case print all lines with name of packages which configuration files are still in system)

dpkg -P package purges package

Script can also be added to /etc/crontab as:

Script will be executed with root privileges everyday at 18:09.

4. Open file:
/home/your username/.mozilla/firefox/your profile/places.sqlite
It’s a SQLite database where firefox stores information about history.

I used approach from Ubuntu forums and Load_Cycle_Count stopped increasing. Unfortunately, everytime when I woke up my Asus F3F from suspend to RAM (even it was on AC power), Load_Cycle_Count started dramatically increasing.
Here is a solution:

  hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda
else
  hdparm -B 128 /dev/sda
fi

I saved this code as /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99-fixhdd.sh and made it executalbe:

chmod +x /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99-fixhdd.sh

Since this fix, everything is OK.

sudo apt-get install hddtemp

When application Hddtemp is installed, you can use it typing:

sudo hddtemp /dev/sda

where /dev/sda is your hard drive.
It will output something like this:

/dev/sda: ST9120822AS: 40°C

You can also have a graphical applet on your panel which indicates temperature of HD. Type:

sudo apt-get install computertemp

Then:

1. Add “Computer Temperature Monitor” to your Gnome panel
2. Click right on applet icon and choose Preferences
3. In Display tab select HDDTEMP in “Select Sensor to monitor” and your drive in “Select Thermal Zone”.

There is another approach:
Install smartmontools package:

sudo apt-get install smartmontools

enable SMART monitoring (/dev/sda is a hard drive):

sudo smartctl  -s on  /dev/sda

and execute this command:

sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep Temp

it will output something like:

194 Temperature_Celsius     0x0022   040   048   000    Old_age   Always       -       40 (0 22 0 0)

40°C is the temperature of hard drive
